Architectural Artist Terry Weisenfeld
FInely detailed Architectural Art in the Black & White, pen & ink and airbrush medium.

Terry Weisenfeld started sketching rough pencil drawings of ancient buildings during his training as an architect at Virginia Tech in the late 70's. Interests in European architecture and the old building crafts used in timber-framed structures, influenced him in the development of the media skills used today in his custom architectural renderings.

In his early sketches, he found that finished pencil works did not reproduce the subtle nuances of graphite in the reproduction process for prints. By trial and error, Terry discovered that the more exacting and permanent medium of pen & ink replicated the true likeness of the original art, and offered a better process for developing and expanding the series of prints he sold at juried art shows and festivals.
Terry's subject matter and style is heavily influenced by the old art and craft of etching. He began to develope the look and style of his art while living in Germany during his years of service as a pilot in the United States Air Force.
Upon his return to the United States, he began to render illustrations from old black & white photo plates found in the books collected during his travels through Great Britain and Germany. These source images became the basis for his current series of prints. The prints were originally offered at art shows in Central Texas during the mid 90's when his business was known as" Our House Architectural Art". Terry competed in different art competitions, and attended and sold art at festivals where he won several awards for "Best in Drawing."
He completed a finished a commissioned work for the Glenn Garden CC in Fort Worth, Texas, that was signed and approved by golf legends Byron Nelson & Ben Hogan and currently is displayed in the club's historical collection.
Terry moved his art business and family to South Carolina in 1997. He built and resides permanently in a timber-framed cottage which he uses as a period back-drop for his art. His home, the Branch Hollow Cottage Studio was featured in a national building periodical, Timber Homes Illustrated, in 2004.
Currently, Terry illustrates residential, golf course, and a variety of other architectural images in the mixed media of pen & ink and airbrush as well as "digital oil" using a computer tablet as his canvas. He sells a collection of Limited and Open Edition prints representing his interests in the old building arts of hand-crafted structures.
Terry has recently completed the first in a new series of illustrations featuring the Virginia Tech Campus, and has also started a series of digital oil and photo illustrations representing his life-long interest in military and commercial Aviation.
Illustration work includes painting digital illustrations in a range of subjects using his own source photographs. Completed works include private residences, pets, and human full and partial portraits.        Finished works are transfered to high quality canvas and hand re-touched for additional realism and dimension with the use of acrylic paint.
Terry has begun working with Scottish Clans and Societies, illustrating old ancestral homes and offering limited print editions to help celebrate the Clans long and storied heritages.
He continues to promote the aesthetic and qualities found in the "old building arts', working out of the timber-framed home he designed and built in the English vernacular. A home place he visualized long ago as a student, and now shares with his family and ever expanding menagerie of dogs and cats.
